Stargaze Productions are extremely happy to announce the next exciting instalment in their popular series of jazz evenings, which will take place at D-Light Studios on Friday, the 5th of November.

They invite you to curl up by the fireplace on a cosy couch in one of the city’s most creative and daring spaces as you lose yourself in the hypnotizing vocals of Colette Henry, performing with her band, Colette Quartet.

The Nina Simone Escapade
Colette Quartet have created a show that celebrates the incredible music and the life of Nina Simone. The songs she made famous are woven between stories of her life to give you a special insight into a very passionate woman and her songs. It will be an evening of energy, truth and a chance to get involved in creating the music!

As one of the most powerful voices of the last century, Nina Simone inspired millions and confused critics who tried to categorize her. She brought together music from different cultural backgrounds - jazz, soul, protest songs, blues, folk, light theatre and mixed this with her personal background as a child prodigy classical pianist.
Bringing all these influences to light will be Colette's voice which moves effortlessly between sweet and sensual, and powerful and gritty. "Colette Henry is a fine new Jazz singer with crystal clear delivery.

Alongside Colette, Johnny Taylor (Piano) Andrew Csibi, (Double Bass) and Dominic Mullan (Drummer) create musical unity and powerful atmosphere that brings a freshness to the well-known Nina Simone numbers.
